Academic Advising

One coordinator. Every trimester.
All the way to graduation.

Every Walsh student is paired with a dedicated programme coordinator — a single point of contact who knows your programme inside out, tracks your progress, and helps you plan every step from first registration to the day you graduate.

What advising does

Support that's academic, practical, and personal.

Programme coordinators at Walsh College UAE are here to help you build a realistic study plan, choose the right courses each trimester, troubleshoot when things get hard, and connect you to the right support across the college — whether that's tutoring or wellbeing.

Academic advising serves every Walsh student — undergraduate, postgraduate, DBA, and PhD candidates — whether you study on-campus or online.

Your programme coordinator helps you understand your programme structure, explains your rights and responsibilities as a student, and works with you to build the critical thinking, communication, and planning skills you'll need to succeed at Walsh and beyond.

A programme coordinator is assigned to you at the time of admission and stays with you throughout your degree. You're encouraged to meet with them at least once each trimester — and any time you have questions about your course load, performance, or programme path.

Advising is for everyone

Reach out — early and often.

You don't need to be in trouble to book an appointment. The students who get the most out of advising are the ones who show up regularly, ask questions, and plan ahead.

  • First-trimester course selection
  • Programme or major change requests
  • Adding, dropping, or auditing courses
  • Transfer credits and prior learning
  • Academic difficulty or warning status
Meet your coordinators

Three coordinators, one for every stage.

Walsh UAE assigns one dedicated programme coordinator per academic tier. They know the curriculum, the faculty, the trimester rhythm, and the path through to graduation — so the guidance you get is tailored to your specific journey.

When to reach out

Five good reasons to book an appointment.

01

Planning next trimester's courses

Before each registration window, sit down with your programme coordinator to map your course load — balance core, elective, and concentration requirements.

02

Struggling in a class

Got back a grade lower than expected? Your programme coordinator can help you decide whether tutoring, a study plan adjustment, or a course drop is the right call.

03

Changing your programme

Thinking about switching majors, adding a concentration, or moving between delivery modes? Talk it through before submitting any forms.

04

Transfer credits

Bringing in credits from prior study? A programme coordinator reviews your transcripts and confirms what transfers toward your Walsh programme.

05

Personal circumstances

Family, health, or work changes affecting your studies? Your programme coordinator can refer you to wellbeing support and help adjust your study plan.

Tracking your degree

Your academic plan, always within reach.

Every Walsh student has a personal academic plan that outlines the full sequence of courses required for their degree — based on the catalogue year you were admitted under. You and your programme coordinator review it together regularly.

  • 01

    See what's done, what's next

Your plan shows every course you've completed, every grade earned, and every requirement still outstanding.

  • 02

Track your GPA in real time

Cumulative and major GPA, updated after each trimester. Your programme coordinator flags early if you're approaching probation thresholds.

  • 03

    Review your plan each year

Curriculum and catalogue years occasionally update. An annual check-in keeps your path accurate and on schedule.

  • 04

    Adjust without losing time

Switching concentrations or repeating a course? Your programme coordinator recalculates timing so graduation stays on track.

Student Wellbeing

Confidential support, when life and study collide.

Walsh's Student Wellbeing team supports students through the personal pressures that can affect academic life — stress, anxiety, low mood, family or financial concerns, homesickness, adjustment difficulties, or anything else making it hard to study at your best.

What wellbeing offers

The Wellbeing team operates independently of programme coordinators and faculty. Conversations are confidential by default — nothing is shared back to your academic record or instructors without your explicit consent, except in the rare circumstances where someone's safety is at immediate risk.

Support ranges from a single check-in conversation to structured ongoing sessions across a trimester. When specialist help is needed, the team can refer you to trusted external counsellors, psychologists, and medical professionals across the UAE.

Who it's for: Every Walsh student — undergraduate, postgraduate, DBA, PhD — on-campus or online. You don't need a referral and you don't need to be in crisis to reach out.

How to access support

  1. Reach outEmail studentwellbeing@walshcollege.ae directly, or ask your programme coordinator to refer you.
  2. Initial conversationA confidential first session to understand what's going on and what would help.
  3. Agree on a planSingle conversation, ongoing sessions, or external referral — whatever fits your situation.
  4. Ongoing check-insRegular sessions for as long as helpful, with the option to pause or stop at any time.
  5. Specialist referralWhen needed, a warm handover to trusted external professionals across the UAE.
Common questions

Advising, explained.

How often should I see my programme coordinator?
At minimum, once per trimester — before the registration window opens — to plan your next set of courses. Students on probation, in their first trimester, or considering programme changes should meet more frequently. Advising is not rationed; book as often as you need.
Is academic advising the same as career counselling?
They're distinct services. Your programme coordinator helps you plan your degree — which courses, when, in what order, and when you're ready to graduate. Career planning, internships, employer connections, and post-graduation pathways are handled by the Careers team. Your coordinator can introduce you, but the careers conversation belongs there.
Can I change my programme coordinator?
Programme coordinators are assigned by programme and stay with you throughout your degree — this continuity is intentional, since your coordinator builds a full picture of your academic journey over time and across trimesters. If you have a serious concern that's affecting your studies, raise it with the Head of Academics.
What if I want to switch programmes or majors?
Talk to your programme coordinator first. They'll review which of your completed credits transfer to the new programme, what additional requirements you'd need, and whether the change extends your graduation timeline. Once you've decided, the formal change is submitted through Admissions.
I'm an online student — is advising the same for me?
Yes. Every advising service — scheduled appointments, drop-in hours, email, tutoring, wellbeing referrals — is available remotely. Online students get the same programme coordinator relationship as on-campus students, with sessions held by Zoom or phone.
What happens if I receive an academic warning or am placed on probation?
Your programme coordinator will reach out to schedule a meeting to review the situation. Together you'll build a recovery plan — which may include tutoring, a reduced course load, adjusted study habits, or referral to wellbeing support. Probation is not the end of the road; many students recover fully with the right structure.
How do I request transfer credit for prior study?
Submit your official transcripts to admissions@walshcollege.ae. Your programme coordinator and the Academics team will review which credits map to Walsh courses and confirm what transfers. Decisions are usually returned within two weeks of receiving complete documentation.
